Why did you apply for the Master of Land and Water Systems?

The MLWS program stood out as a multidisciplinary program. Coming from a mixed background of biochemistry, gerontology, and education, with a keen personal interest in agriculture, I was looking for a professional graduate program that would allow the exploration of agricultural systems from an intersectional perspective. My future goals include becoming a certified Professional Agrologist in order to contribute meaningful and necessary changes in our current food systems. Academically, I look forward to expanding my understanding of the complexities of soil science and hydrology and how they intersect with food production.

What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS program?

Last year, I developed a profound interest in soil science after taking the introductory course at UBC. I am looking forward to furthering my understanding of soil science as well as my analytical skills. Additionally, I am excited to be apart of a diverse and knowledgeable international cohort whom I look forward to learning from.

What are some of your favourite hobbies?

My favourite place to be is outside (preferably with a fresh cup of coffee) next to the water, on a mountain or in a forest. My preferred form of exercise is cycling or kickboxing. Other notable hobbies of mine are eating Korean (or any, really) food, cooking, spending time with my dog, gardening, and playing card games.
