Why did you apply for the master of land and water systems?
My environmental engineering degrees at Mines mainly focused on hydrology and water treatment. Since I was more interested in hydrology, climate change, and conservation aspects of environmental engineering/science, wanted to look at programs at different schools across the U.S. and Canada. I decided to apply to the MLWS program at UBC because the university itself would provide a great education and more opportunities professionally, and the program provides unique coursework to develop my environmental science skills and practice some social science skills I learned during my time at the Colorado School of Mines.
What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS programs?
I am excited to learn about land and water system management in the Canadian context and how these practices can help fight climate change. I am also intrigued by some of the work conducted by the professors in and associated with MLWS.
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
I enjoy traveling, playing a variety of sports, and dancing. Some of my favorite places that I’ve traveled to include Nicaragua, Spain, Norway, and Greece. In total, I have travelled to 26 countries! I have played soccer and either skied or snowboarded since I was a little kid. More recently I’ve gotten into ballroom and Latin dancing such as Salsa, Bachata, and Tango.
How did you find out about the MLWS program?
