Why did you apply for the Master of Land and Water Systems?
The Master of Land and Water Systems program was very attractive to me because of its interdisciplinary research with outstanding faculty and industry resources. One of the most unique aspects of the program for me is the opportunity to design and conduct research of my interest as a final project, where I can delve into the details of my chosen topic. In a small faculty of students, professors can help and guide me frequently through the research process and discuss insightful ideas with me. Designing my research also stimulates my creativity and train my skills in creating infographics and posters that allow me to effectively publicize my research to non-scientific audiences and increase their level of awareness of my field of study. In addition, this project may also offer me an opportunity to establish connections with local experts, allowing me to not only gain different perspectives on my chosen topic but also develop long-lasting professional relationships with others. I hope that I will have the opportunity to use this project to develop professional competencies in my research area and to learn about the land, water, and natural resource industry system in British Columbia, as I know it will be valuable for my future career path.
What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS program?
I am enthusiastic about integrating what I have learned to find innovative and policy-relevant solutions to climate change, food security, and sustainability issues. I am most eager to explore the relationship between the growing human demand for resources and environmental issues in urban areas and to find balanced approaches to achieve sustainable development.
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
I like hiking, travelling, taking photographs, listening to melody rap, and trying new restaurants.
