Master of Water Engineering and Management, Asian Institute of Technology; Bachelor of Environmental Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology
Why did you apply for the Master of Land and Water Systems?
With over sixteen years’ experience working with the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management system, especially for the offshore and onshore petroleum exploitation, I have a strong background in HSE management. Recent studies have caught my interest in green approaches to urban runoff management. Urbanization is causing an increase in infiltration areas, resulting in a number of water related risks such as flooding, water pollution, etc. From the Master of Land and Water Systems program, I am gaining a broad set of knowledge that has allowed me to gain a holistic perspective on water issues and prepare me for a future career in water conservation and urban flood mitigation.
What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS program?
It is so exciting for me to be able to gather experience from professors and classmates who come from various majors and have a variety of disciplinary backgrounds here in the MLWS program. In addition to being friendly and helpful in daily life, they are also very professional from an academic standpoint. This should be one of the best times of my life diving with the MLWS program here in BC, Canada.
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
The parks under the sunshine are a great place to enjoy other outdoor activities with my family besides cycling and jogging. Early in the morning, I love drinking coffee with a natural view from the window here in BC, which is very famous for its natural beauty.
