Why did you apply for the Master of Land and Water Systems?
My background is in environmental sciences and environmental history. I am interested in the interactions and interdependencies between natural systems and social, cultural and political landscapes. This program gives me the opportunity to study these dynamics, but also provides the professional skills needed to synthesize and produce recommendations for the social and environmental concerns we study. I hope to use these skills in a career intersecting agricultural policy and science to help build sustainable food systems in the face of the climate crisis, rising inequality and population growth.
What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS program?
I am most excited to study how land and water systems are impacted by food production on different scales, and evaluate management practices and opportunities in biotechnology and agroecology. I am also interested in identifying where and how communities may need to adapt their agricultural practices to respond to environmental degradation and climate change.
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
I enjoy cycling, swimming and love to travel!
