Why did you apply for the Master of Land and Water Systems?
After completing an AmeriCorps term focused on environmental leadership and working in ecological restoration in the Puget Sound Region for a few years, I wanted a graduate program that would allow me to better understand the work I was doing and give me the tools move into a position where I could impact environmental restoration on a larger scale.
What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS program?
I am most interested in riparian and estuarine restoration, the nexus of fresh water, land, and ocean is fascinating to me and so I am very excited about all my water based coursework. There is also a huge need for clear science communication about the climate crisis to combat the anti-science propaganda so I am eager for the communication class second term.
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
My main hobbies are reading, video games, and getting out into nature. I love discussing what I’m reading with other people and am hoping I’m able to maintain my reading habits while in grad school.
