What are your main responsibilities or activities in your current position?
I [recently completed] work with the MLWS program as a research technician. My primary responsibility is working on research projects in the field of land and water systems to lead to publications, but I also support the development of some of the curriculum for the MLWS program.
What do you like and what do you find challenging about your current position?
I really enjoy that I get to work on a number of different research projects in collaboration with other faculty and staff in the LFS Faculty and broader UBC community. Every day brings with it different tasks because I work on several projects, so my job is never boring! On the flip side, this is also a challenge in itself as this requires a high degree of skill to prioritize what tasks are most important.
What did you enjoy the most about the MLWS program?
I most enjoyed the opportunities to get out on field trips and talking to MLWS alumni and other professionals working in the field! It was great to have the opportunity to learn about the kinds of career paths one can go on with an MLWS degree.
