Why did you apply for the master of land and water systems?

I have spent the last decade working in urban planning. In recent years, I have participated in some projects related to water ecological governance, sustainable development of rural and urban land, and urban waterfront parks. Through these projects, I know we need to pay more attention to the overall planning system and focus on the harmonious development of water, land, and people to deal with more challenging ecological problems and the process of urbanization. MLWS program provides a holistic framework of knowledge about the interrelationships between water, land, and people, allowing me to understand the workings of ecosystems in higher dimensions and perspectives.

What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS programs?

The MLWS program will give me the opportunity to study and research ecosystem-related issues with people from different educational and professional backgrounds, giving me some new thoughts and ideas that will help me greatly in expanding my knowledge structure and career path.

What are some of your favourite hobbies?

I am a big fan of nature and I love outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, and cruising land-surfing skateboard. I’m also trying to learn snowboarding and hope to have the opportunity to get involved in more winter sports in Vancouver!
