Why did you apply for the Master of Land and Water Systems?
I worked in the provincial public service after my undergrad, and one day, saw a flyer describing the Master of Land and Water Systems on one of the office printers. I immediately connected with the idea of learning how to better address emerging environmental issues related to food and climate. Humans have complex relationships with food, and our land and water systems are inextricably linked to our food systems. I hope to redefine “agriculture” and better our societal relationship with food for a better world.
What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS program?
I look most forward to learning from other professionals with different backgrounds and knowledge. There are a variety of perspectives I have yet to hear from, all of which can contribute to me becoming a better professional (and person).
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
I’ll get up early if it means I get to do a mountain sport, whether that be mountain biking, hiking or skiing and enjoy organizing more than the average person. When I’m not outdoors, I enjoy learning how to prepare a new dish and dreaming about adopting a rescue animal.
