Why did you apply for the Master of Land and Water Systems?

I’m passionate about the planet! Right now is a pretty interesting (and pivotal) period in the environmental sphere, and the direction we choose to go as a collective will be critical in determining how livable the future will be. How we will continue to produce enough food for an increasing population, amidst increasingly degrading landscapes and complex political climates, is of particular interest to me. I hope to build upon my knowledge about understanding ecosystems through of a “resilience thinking” approach to be better equipped to holistically tackle multi-dimensional food and water related land use issues in the future.

What are you most excited about learning in the MLWS program?

Problem-solving and solution-seeking through collaboration and creativity. I am very excited and grateful to be learning from and alongside this diverse and knowledgeable community.

What are some of your favourite hobbies?

Mountaineering, alpine climbing, back-country skiing, and mountain biking are a few of my favourite things. I also recently started a vegetable garden, which I hope to cultivate using permaculture principles.
